Hello everyone, we plan to continue our teatime into September.

However, I have a few road trips planned.  I will be on the road to Lake Oconee on Sunday, September 6, for the Labor Day weekend.  Plus, I will be on the road to Sewanee TN on Sunday, September 20, to attend a clergy conference.  I hope to hike a few mountain trails while up there, just to get Out of the House!

That leaves us sharing a tea on Sundays, September 13 and 27.

I realize this is cutting our teatime in half.  However, our time so far on this journey has been lively and witty on a discerning level.  I believe it is still worthwhile to Zoom in and continue our chat with Matthew.  The readings for these two Sundays bring us back to chatting about a few more parables; The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant and The Parable of the Two Sons.  If you have not joined us thus far, jump on-board!  One’s journey through the scriptures has no real beginning or ending point.

Now, a little about the art in this article.  In my quest to learn more about Caravaggio, I came upon Claude Vignon of Tours.  While Vignon grew up in France, he spent some time in Rome where the Caravaggisti genre influenced his work.  I believe Caravaggio never really set up a school of thought.  However, the psychological approach to realism in his work was a huge influence in the time of the Reformation.

I personally savor this genre in that I get lost in the underlying philosophical makeup of the physical and emotional state expressed by the characters from the Gospels.  They always seem to be in motion toward and from a truth of the moment, much like our own journey through the scriptures.  Vignon’s Parable of the Unforgiving Servant is a good example.

Join us in this journey with a cup of tea or coffee on Sunday, September 13 and 27, at 1 p.m. via Zoom.  The Zoom invitation link is below.
