Helping the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The past few Christmas seasons the parish has supported the shoe box/angel tree ministry for the Salvation Army emergency shelter. This year, after discussion with the Daughters of the King, we shall somewhat modify that outreach effort.
We will still be supporting the Salvation Army and their marvelous ministry to those requiring safe shelter, but will do so through the giving of supplies that are daily needed by those in the shelters. Each Sunday for a month we are inviting you to give a particular item such as soap, toothpaste, etc. A basket will be in the narthex to receive the items.
So, starting this Sunday and continuing through October we invite you to bring shampoo and/or combs. November we will collect toothpaste and toothbrushes. December - soaps and washcloths.
This is a practical way to care for our less fortunate neighbors who find themselves in need. Remembering that children are part of the shelter population, it would be helpful if child-themed products were included, such as baby shampoo, children's toothbrushes, etc.
Thank you for your continuing support for the Gospel imperative to share God's love with those in great need.
Blessings,
Lorna+
